Background

For over a decade, The Institute of India’s founders repeatedly invested their personal savings and income into a variety of ‘seva’ projects and initiatives, from instituting a pioneering, internationally acclaimed direct democracy initiative, to coaching thousands of young entrepreneurs and students to improve their skills, and, in the process, give back to country and community.

They also mentored, sponsored or funded individuals, projects and start-ups driven by the sole intent of seva.

After beginning to work with prominent national lawyers, public figures and change-makers to up-scale some of these projects, the founders were advised to formalise these efforts in an appropriate charitable vehicle, rather than continue to fund such projects themselves, which would be unsustainable. These efforts were therefore formalised to create The Institute of India, a charitable foundation, which promptly started working with a variety of well wishers, including some of the most respected public figures and organisations in India.
